Who is eligible to apply?
Our founding cohort is open to South African citizens with a unique idea for an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. We are looking for ambitious, impact-driven founders who are ready to commit to building a scalable brand. We strongly encourage applications from women and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Is there a fee to participate in the program?
Participation in the Nexus Bev Lab is free of charge.
Do you take equity in my business?
Our compensation structure includes a minority equity stake in successfully funded businesses, which establishes us as fully aligned partners invested in your sustained growth.
What is the time commitment?
This is an intensive, hands-on program that requires a significant time commitment from the founders. While there is flexibility, you should be prepared to dedicate a substantial portion of your focus to the program for its duration to gain the maximum benefit.
What stage of business are you looking for?
We are a pre-seed incubator, which means we are looking for founders at the earliest stages of their journey. This can range from a powerful, well-researched idea to an early-stage venture with a prototype or initial market validation. If you have a compelling vision, we want to hear from you.
Does my business have to be based in Johannesburg?
While our pilot program is based in Johannesburg and will require some physical presence for key workshops and production access, we welcome applications from all over South Africa. We will work with successful candidates to accommodate a hybrid model where possible.
Who owns the Intellectual Property (IP)?
You do. 100%. Any intellectual property you create before, during, or after the program is owned entirely by your company. Our role is to help you develop and protect it.
What is the timeline after the application deadline?
After the deadline, our selection committee will conduct a thorough review of all applications. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a virtual interview within 2-3 weeks. Final decisions for the cohort will be made approximately 4-5 weeks after the deadline.
